¡Bienvenidos a las Clases de Español de Lacy Elementary!
Welcome to the Spanish Classes at Lacy Elementary
This is a very exciting year where students of 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades will have the opportunity to learn the basics of the Spanish language as well as to discover about the culture of the Spanish speaking countries.
Did you know there are 21 countries worldwide where Spanish is the first language? Did you know that most of them are very close to us here in the continent where we live? Learning another language at an early age leaves children with more flexibility in thinking, greater sensitivity to language, and a better ear for listening. It also improves a child's understanding of his/her native language and opens the door to the learning of other cultures.
At Lacy Elementary, we will be doing different activities during class that involves reading, writing, speaking, and sharing ideas where students will have space to express their opinions working individually and in groups. This not only will build students' skills while learning Spanish, but it also supports the District's initiative by engaging the students in the 4C's which are Collaboration, Critical thinking, Communication, and Creativity.
Please check the Resources page for interesting links where your child can practice Spanish.
