The Teacher - La Maestra
Hola, Hola, Hola! My name is Clare Dorn, and this is my seventh year teaching Spanish here at Lacy Elementary, and it has been such a joy! I have the pleasure of working with the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade classes. I hope to foster a love of learning another language and an appreciation for and awareness of other cultures in my students.
In 1999, I graduated from the University of Virginia with my Master of Teaching and Bachelor of Arts in Spanish. While at the University I majored in Spanish and took advantage of many opportunities to study, work, and volunteer abroad in Spanish speaking countries like Spain, Costa Rica, Mexico, and Panama.
After college I taught Spanish in Atlanta and then here in Raleigh at Broughton High School. I have also tutored students in all levels of Spanish for the past 16 years. In my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my 12 year old son, Will, 10 year old daughter, Alex, husband, Scott, and our dog, Cocoa.
